There’s a lot of talk these days about living the life you want, following your passions and all those other cliches. It’s something I struggle with because I struggle to really define what that means for me. Sometimes, being a mom is what I’m jazzed up to do. Sometimes I’m thrilled the baby naps for hours and hours at a time. There are days in the ski business I can’t believe how lucky I am that it’s my job, and days when I can’t believe my bad luck. With Beautycounter, there are days that are so exciting and I feel like I’ve really made an impact and days when I don’t make much progress on my to do list.
The thing that’s really important though, is to believe in abundance. There is enough. You are enough. You don’t need to know everything about your entire life journey right now, you just need to keep going. I made a sign to hang over my desk that says “Just do One Thing.” I live by that. There are days my house is a mess and I’m intimidated by the scope of the project. I do one thing. I clean up one part of the kitchen. I just clean the toilets. One thing.
I’ve taken that to heart with my diet too. I was not taking very good care of myself when I found WIN– now, if I don’t have time for breakfast (and sometimes lunch!), I have time to throw a packet of superfoods in my pocket to add to water in a to go mug. One thing.
It might seem weird to focus on one thing when discussing abundance, but I’ve found that focusing on one thing at a time helps me really savor whatever abundant thing I’m working on at the time. It also helps me realize what I really do have. We can get so caught up in what we don’t have, that in our efforts to get more, we lose track of what we do. We make time for the things that are important.
Abundance is a mindset. Just do your best.
