As a new mom, I was horrified to learn about the lack of accountability in the personal care and cosmetic industry. Just because something is sold in store doesn't mean it's been tested for safety. In fact, there are ingredients commonly found in products in the US that are banned in the EU because they don't meet safety standards. Some are known carcinogens and endocrine system disruptors. I've partnered with Beautycounter to share what I've learned with others and further the mission of getting safer products in the hands of everyone. Join me on my journey as I #switchtosafer!

Cleaning up

There's never going to be a perfect time for anything. There will always be a reason not to. The day I went all in with those two lilacs, we were dog sitting, but toddler was roaming around and I was trying to keep track of all those moving parts without killing the lilacs. But I started, and it looks great. Well, it will look great soon... I hope. No, I know it will. They look a little rough up close right now, but with anything, put in the work now and reap the benefits later.

Greenwashing

It's a good news, bad news situation. On the one hand, conventional companies are hearing us. On the other, they're adding some "organic" or "natural" ingredients and calling it a green product.

Strut your stuff!

Far too often, especially those of us who are moms, downplay our own importance. Our own good looks. We take pictures of our husbands or partners and our kids and don't insist on having them turn the camera on us. We hide behind our kids ashamed of our mom bodies and imperfect, probably dirty (thanks kid), clothes. We deserve to be in the picture. We deserve to take the time we need to feel great about ourselves. We deserve to strut our stuff.

Limited Edition!

Guys- don't think you use beauty products? Think again! Men use personal care products too, and are equally affected by the potentially harmful chemicals hidden inside them. Not sure where to start? Check out this limited edition set!

The Best is Yet to Come

I realized the other day my baby is growing up. Fast. I'm reminded how quickly things can change, and how significant small things can become. It's never too late to make changes in your life. Never too late to change your opinion, go back to school, launch a business, start a garden, make new friends.
