There’s something magical about seeing three generations together.

Last year, our daughter was not thrilled about the ocean, but this season, she charged right in and played all day. She was up almost all day running, digging, splashing and squealing. She alternated who she grabbed by the hand and dragged out of the beach chair and into the water. She had sand in every crevasse.

While watching her makes my heart full, so does watching her with her Dad and grandparents. I see her almost all day every day, but her Dad works outside the home and her grandparents, while close by, are just far enough away in a direction we don’t usually go that we don’t make it up nearly enough. This year it’s especially powerful because we’re back in the beach house where her Dad has so many childhood memories.

Seeing family together like this reminds me why the work I do is so important. It reminds me that helping other families live healthier, more fulfilling lives is important work. It’s allowing more people to have moments like this- more moments with their healthy children and healthy parents. With so many variables out there these days- so many unknowns in our food and personal care products- doing the best we can to do our part to live a more sustainable and less toxic life is important.

It’s not perfect- we’re using paper plates because the rental doesn’t have a dishwasher, and for the number of people involved, it would be a lot of work for one person to do all the dishes. It would take away from someone’s vacation. We bought recycled plates, and are using one a day, but we’re balancing our beliefs and our vacation. We’re using safer sunscreen from Beautycounterwe’re eating organic snacks on the beach, and drinking plenty of water (and not all of it mixed with hops…).

I’ve done a lot of the work for you-if you’d like my free guide- Five Essential Secrets to Health and Happiness- simply click the title and follow the prompts- I’d love to share what over a year of purposeful living and research taught me. We all deserve the chance to live full lives full of moments that make your heart sing. We’re striving for progress, not perfection, and there’s no reason to reinvent the wheel!
