Life with a toddler never ceases to amaze me. The constant curiosity. The innocent exploration.
I picked my daughter up at my parents’ house the other day and the lilies in the photo above were so fragrant, your could smell them as soon as you stepped out of the car. Naturally, I took this as a time to literally stop and smell the flowers. I was picking her up from a long day of unproductive work. I really wanted to just pick her up and go. But we didn’t.
We stopped. We smelled. We smelled things that didn’t smell. We looked at everything in that garden. It was amazing and torture at the same time.
Our time with our children is short. They go from infants to toddlers to driving to adults in a matter of days. Hours even. It’s amazing.
Look, it’s easy to get caught up. It’s easy to be too busy. It’s easy to be overwhelmed.
It’s also easy not to. You are the driver of your life- your attitude shapes your beliefs and your circumstances. What did those few minutes cost me? Nothing. Maybe five minutes of watching news or starting a load of laundry that can wait until morning. Realistically, I would have wasted it complaining about being too busy.
