So today was one of those days. My daughter woke up around 4 hacking and sniffling and generally miserable. Awesome. Not.
We had things to do and places to be, so after heading downstairs so Dad could at least sleep until morning and catching a few scattered zzzs while we at least aim for sunrise, we had to get up and at ’em quickly. Life with a toddler is trying enough- life with a cranky, sleep deprived toddler is another thing entirely.
Here comes the 60 second face. For me, it’s all about quality. It’s about having products on hand that make life easy. It’s about efficiency without sacrificing efficacy.
Step one- quick wash- I go with the Nourishing Cream Cleanser– a pea size dab is all you need and my face feels clean and soft.
Step two- face oil. Let me just say, I would have never guessed that putting oil on my face would be an impossible to skip part of my morning and night. Click here for an article with even more reasons- I love face oils because they do the job quickly, beautifully and aren’t full of questionable ingredients (or shouldn’t be…). Even plain coconut oil is a good option.
We should be about 30 seconds in at this point- if you have time, spend it enjoying steps one and two, but if you’re running tight, don’t skip them- a clean, well moisturized face is beautiful all on its own.
Step three- grab a tinted moisturizer with SPF. You can’t go without SPF. Not now, not later. If you have to only choose one thing to do in the morning besides brush your teeth and wash your face, go with SPF. Apply evenly with your fingers, paying special attention to the parts of your face than need the most sun protection- nose, sensitive under eyes, cheeks.
Step four- throw on a quick coat of mascara
If you’re out of time, head out the door. Grab a stainless steel water bottle and hit the road. Staying hydrated will make a world of difference in how you feel and how you look.
If you have another 20 seconds, grab a creme blush and use on cheeks, lips and eyelids for a super easy, pulled together look. This is a step you could throw in your bag and do on the road (not while actually driving of course…). It would be nice to have for touch ups throughout the day.
There- done. Remember, your beauty is not on the outside, it’s on the inside. Being kind and generous is more beautiful than any makeup you can buy, and feeling confident that you’re putting your best self forward will take that natural beauty and spread it far and wide.
