The Northeast was recently walloped by winter storm Stella. I ventured out Tuesday morning to get all the supplies for the week, taking advantage of my husband’s day off and toddler free shopping opportunity. Despite all the warnings to the contrary, the roads were fine, shelves were stocked and I came and went with no issue. Glad I didn’t wait…

Snow days are a great time to relax, nest, clean and reflect. Even though President’s week was a few weeks ago, the house hadn’t quite recovered from the two weeks of neglect in the cleaning department, so while my husband and toddler played, I went to town with my new Norwex products and imagine that- there’s a house under all this mess!

I love being able to clean my house with just water, and it’s much less drying than using a bunch of harsh chemicals, but when it was all said and done, I had done a number on my hands. Several hours of scrubbing may have had something to do with it as well… anyway, as the storm raged on outside, I treated myself to a bit of a spa day. As a reward for my hard work, I took a few minutes to shave my legs past my knees (it’s spring out there somewhere…), trimmed and filed my nails (now that half of them were chipped from picking day old toddler food off the baseboard under her chair), and indulged in a long shower without any helpers. Fellow moms out there- I know this sounds like a fantasy world, but trust me, if you just leave the baby with whomever is home, they won’t let the baby die, and will probably, eventually, actually cave and change a diaper. Just do it. You deserve it. (See “Taking Time ” for more on that subject.)

Post shower, I lingered in the bathroom and wrapped myself in my absolute favorite moisturizer- Beautycounter’s Body ButterOn drier areas that need a little love, I follow the  body butter with the Citrus Rosemary Body Oil (Clicking these links by the way isn’t scary- it takes you directly to the product so you can treat yourself…who has time to shop around?). While the calendar says spring is three days away, the snow in my yard says otherwise- I have mixed feelings about this- on the one hand, I was mentally ready for spring, on the other, it gives me more reasons to sit by the fire and indulge in mini-spa moments. There’s something about winter (for me anyway) that says indulge…
