I've learned this very important lesson: You are capable of so much more than you can even imagine. There were days in the beginning where I wasn't sure I could get her to adulthood, but here we are- not at adulthood yet- but well into toddlerhood. She is a little human with a personality. She has skills.
So I've been having too much fun taking these pictures over the last few days- It's a part of this business that challenges my creative side, and then I get to share with all of you! This set is genius-... Continue Reading →
I am constantly amazed by my little girl. She is fearless. This picture is from her first gondola ride- high up, moving up the mountain- she fearlessly climbed aboard and was enthralled the entire time. If she could have hung over the edge, she would have, but luckily for us, the gondola is a closed unit...
Sometimes life is crazy. Sometimes you need to step away and reset. I recently had a board meeting over in Lake George. Now, was the meeting as relaxing as hanging by the lake on a lounge chair-no, but it was... Continue Reading →
I especially love the Glow Shimmer Oil because I know that every ingredient Beautycounter uses is sustainably sourced. Did you know that most cosmetic products that include shimmer or glitter are sourced from dangerous and illegal mica mines, mostly worked by children under the age of 10 years old in India? After 7-8 hours of laboring in treacherous conditions, most children earn just enough to eat for the day, equivalent to approximately $0.33. I am simply not okay in my heart with this and am saddened that I used to support many of the major multi-national companies who source through these mica mines. Knowing this makes me all the more thankful for Beautycounter's strict sourcing standards and sustainability efforts ... Beautycounter truly isn't just a beauty company, we are a company on a mission to make the world better.
I'll admit, I wasn't always perfect about sunscreen. I'm not a tanner exactly, though who doesn't love relaxing in the sun with a good book and maybe a fun beverage. I always tried to avoid farmer's tan and goggle tan, but I wasn't perfect about sunscreen on average days. I'm still not perfect- no one is- but I've learned a lot about safer sunscreen and safer sun use.
There's a lot going on in the world today. It can seem overwhelming at times, but our small decisions and choices can have ripple effects through the immediate present and generations to come. Your choices matter!
Our toddlers, while it might not seem that way, won't be little forever. In fact, not that long ago they were helpless infants. It's an amazing thing this journey isn't it?
Before we hit the pool, we hit the sunscreen. We lathered up with Beautycounter's Protect All Over Sunscreen and put the Protect Stick in my pocket to reapply as needed. Two hours in the sun and the pool and not even the slightest bit pink- you can have safer products that are high performing too!
