It's often said that your eyes are the window to your soul. As cliche as that sounds, I embrace that saying and consider my eyes one of my best features. So it's with much rejoicing that I'm sharing with your Beautycounter's new Volumizing Mascara and reformulated Lengthening Mascara- part of our Five minute face, these two are must haves for both the busy mom and the fashionista.
So get outside today. Leave your phone on the counter. Go for a walk. Listen to your own thoughts. Follow your heart. Listen to what thoughts bubble to the surface. You have the answers you need, now it's time to act.
Now, the second option is not quite as restorative for me, but it's great mother daughter time. It's good for her to see Mom exercising, even if she doesn't understand. It's important as a mom to not lose sight of who you are. You take on a new identity, but it doesn't have to replace your previous identity.
We stopped. We smelled. We smelled things that didn't smell. We looked at everything in that garden. It was amazing and torture at the same time.
Busy is a mindset. Busy is not an end goal. Being more stressed than your co-workers doesn't make you a better employee. It doesn't make you happier. Taking time to organize your life, take care of yourself and see the forest for the trees lets you keep that vacation feeling all year long.
Looking good stems from feeling good. It comes from confidence. It comes from focusing on your overall health, not just your looks.
My personal care and cosmetics used to be an area where I willfully ignored. Just like the section of the beach hiding the shipwreck looks smooth, so does the cosmetics aisle in the drug store. Turns out, behind all those shiny labels and beautiful products, there's plenty of danger lurking just below the surface.
Seeing family together like this reminds me why the work I do is so important. It reminds me that helping other families live healthier, more fulfilling lives is important work. It's allowing more people to have moments like this- more moments with their healthy children and healthy parents. With so many variables out there these days- so many unknowns in our food and personal care products- doing the best we can to do our part to live a more sustainable and less toxic life is important.
Then I realized traditions are routines. This trip is just as important as potty training. Her spending time with her grandparents in the same way her dad was raised- experiencing the same places, tastes and sounds is important. We might lose a little potty progress, but we're gaining a foundation on which we can build a strong sense of family. Of tradition.
