It happened the other day. That first morning with a hint of fall. Some look at this with dread- summer is almost over... others (like me) love fall. I love the crisp air, the cozy clothes and the opportunity to... Continue Reading →
It's often said that your eyes are the window to your soul. As cliche as that sounds, I embrace that saying and consider my eyes one of my best features. So it's with much rejoicing that I'm sharing with your Beautycounter's new Volumizing Mascara and reformulated Lengthening Mascara- part of our Five minute face, these two are must haves for both the busy mom and the fashionista.
So get outside today. Leave your phone on the counter. Go for a walk. Listen to your own thoughts. Follow your heart. Listen to what thoughts bubble to the surface. You have the answers you need, now it's time to act.
My personal care and cosmetics used to be an area where I willfully ignored. Just like the section of the beach hiding the shipwreck looks smooth, so does the cosmetics aisle in the drug store. Turns out, behind all those shiny labels and beautiful products, there's plenty of danger lurking just below the surface.
heap shampoos and conditioners are full of harsh chemicals that often leave your hair worse off than when you started (click here for a quick list of what to avoid). Have you ever had a shampoo stop working, and when you switched brands immediately saw improvement? That's because the potentially harmful ingredients build up, leaving your strands dull, lifeless and your scalp itchy and clogged. The new shampoo cleans out the residue left by the old shampoo and starts replacing it with its own. Gross. The first thing I did almost a year ago was switch to the Beautycounter Daily Shampoo and my hair had never been healthier. Until now.
Look- you eat organic food, exercise regularly and slather potentially harmful products over your largest organ? That just doesn't calculate.
The stat above is one of the main reasons I got involved with Beautycounter in the first place. There is no reason that a multi-billion dollar industry is still governed by a page and a half of legislation that's almost... Continue Reading →
I especially love the Glow Shimmer Oil because I know that every ingredient Beautycounter uses is sustainably sourced. Did you know that most cosmetic products that include shimmer or glitter are sourced from dangerous and illegal mica mines, mostly worked by children under the age of 10 years old in India? After 7-8 hours of laboring in treacherous conditions, most children earn just enough to eat for the day, equivalent to approximately $0.33. I am simply not okay in my heart with this and am saddened that I used to support many of the major multi-national companies who source through these mica mines. Knowing this makes me all the more thankful for Beautycounter's strict sourcing standards and sustainability efforts ... Beautycounter truly isn't just a beauty company, we are a company on a mission to make the world better.
